The Importance of Photography in Social Media

We are visual beings, and as such, it's no wonder that we all understand the language of photography! It is the best way to reach everyone, no matter the location or what language they speak. A picture truly is worth a thousand words!

WHY SHOULD YOU USE CUSTOM-MADE PHOTOS IN YOUR BRAND STRATEGY?

First impressions count, and a good photo is the first thing that catches someone's attention when they see the post.

At first, many people take free stock photos, and although it is a more effortless and less expensive way, it's not always a good idea.

Firstly, stock photos lack authenticity. They can't represent you. To simply put it, they are not yours. Their main flaw is that there is a big possibility someone else is using that same photo, maybe even your competitors.  It would be bad if someone sees that same photo somewhere else, and it would hurt your reputation.

Long story short, if you use your photos, you build trust with your audience and become more authentic.

TIPS & TRICKS FOR GOOD AND QUALITY PHOTOS

You should consider hiring a social media photographer, but if you are starting and you can't afford it, there are a few ways to take good photos yourself.

1. Clean your lens

Make sure that your lens is immaculate so that your photo looks clean. Of course, be careful what you use to clean your lens. You can harm it with the wrong material so pay attention to that.

2. Have a good light or make it good

Lighting is everything when it comes to photography. You can have the best equipment you can get, but you have a problem if your lighting is not good. It would be best to consider investing in quality lighting equipment indoors.

P.S. Never, and we mean never, use your flashlight on your phone!

3. Calm your hands

One of the biggest obstacles to a good photo is a shaky hand. To avoid this, you should keep your elbows close to your body and stay as still as you can. If you want to take a safer route, the best way is to use a tripod.

4. Edit your photos, but don't overdo it

To get the most out of your photos, you should edit them before posting.  There is a lot of editing software out there, free and paid, but don't go all crazy and make a photo look fake.

CONCLUSION

Photos are a great tool to engage with your audience and grab their attention so you can achieve your social media goals. If you still need help with the creativity and the strategy behind them, get in touch!
